Poshshokhoja bin Abdulvahhobkhoja, who lived in the late
fifteenth century and the first half of the sixteenth century and wrote
under the pen name Khoja, was a prominent shaikh al-Islam, sadr, poet,
and scholar. Possessing profound religious knowledge, Khoja successfully
articulated his religious-philosophical and ethical-educational views
through literary expression. His didactical works gained a considerable
recognition during his lifetime. Actively engaged in the literary as well
as the socio-political life of the Shaibanid period, Khoja served the
interests of the people with integrity. One of his works that has remained
insufficiently studied to date is the masnavi Maqsad al-Atwar (“The Aim
of the Sufis”). As this work was discovered only in recent years, it has
not been adequately addressed in existing scholarly literature. This article
investigates the compositional structure and the ideological and artistic
features of the masnavi Maqsad al-Atwar.
